Ghost Chair

oil on paper, 30" x 40" 1992-2005 Ruth Parson

Painting the shape and tones of this chair once was not enough. Ghost Chair is more true to the color of this chair in the morning, the colors washed to a faint, drenched grey as the light casts in the window from the west. Chair On Red was painted in saturated colors drawn out by the afternoon sun striking surfaces through that same westward window. It is the quiet sister of the other chair, a wistful rendition. Its name is the foreshadow of the chair I left behind..
